The day started out a repeat of yesterday: I felt sluggish, crabby, unambitious. The sky was gray and the winds were blowing from 20-30 mph. I dragged around the house until my manicure appt. at 12:30, and yawned my way through that. It started to sleet. Then I went to Starbucks and had a coffee while I read the paper. While I was there, my neighbor came in and we talked. Around 2:30 I left and as I was walking to my car I thought how nice the weather was and how good it would be to go for a run. What was in that coffee?
I went home and put on my winter gear. This time I wore my wind pants over my tights, a neck gaitor, and a hat from Google. Then I did a loop around the lake. The hardest part was running into the wind, so I tried to do that first. There were walkers and runners out. Most were dressed sensibly, but one foolish youngster was wearing shorts and a long-sleeve shirt. Can you say hypothermia? I was proud of myself for going out; I may be back in winter run mode. Four hard-earned miles.
