RW:
MP=8 minutes per mile
8 minutes = 480 seconds
480 seconds*10%=48
480+48=928 seconds per mile or 8:48
OK, their math didn't add up, and it messed me up when I was trying to figure out their formula. 480+48=528, which divided by 60 seconds = 8:48.
ME:
MP=12:36
12:36=756 (60 seconds * 12 minutes=720, plus 36 seconds=756)
756 seconds*10%=76 (I rounded up)
756 + 76=832 seconds
832 seconds/60 seconds=13:52
That seems awfully slow, for just a 10% increase. Of course, it doesn't seem slow when I'm trying to run in snow and ice and wind and cold! My husband isn't here to show me the flaw in my reasoning, but it just doesn't seem right. Maybe it is.
This is what I get for having a liberal arts education.
