As Time Goes By

As I sit at my computer, I can look out to the street and watch life go by. Usually it's normal stuff: people walking their dogs, runners putting in the miles, UPS or FedEx making a delivery. Just now I saw someone on a bicycle towing a Christmas tree! Really; he was dragging it behind his bike. I wish I could have taken a picture.

I haven't been running much, lately. The days have been overcast and I just haven't wanted to go outside. It's not even that cold--temps have been hovering around 30--but the gray gloom makes it look bitter and uninviting. I haven't run in a week.

Saturday I went to a spinning class at my new gym. My membership doesn't start until February, because I had to give the old gym a month's notice, but I got to use a guest pass. Anyway, this was an hour of spinning and it was awesome! The instructor is a serious cyclist (it shows) and he emphasized building up our anaerobic threshold; utilizing more fat, less sugar. I may have gotten that wrong, but the point was to be able to go farther, longer. I figured that could only help with my running.

Grandma's Marathon applications will be mailed today to those who requested it. I sent in my SASE and eagerly await my application.

My bag is packed and I'm going to the gym to run on the treadmill. Gotta get ready for Grandma's!
