Today was my first long run of this training schedule. Ten miles, the longest I've run since the Nov. 9 half marathon. It was tough, but manageable. In a few months I'll be saying "only 10 miles," but not today. It's like running in 40 degree weather in the fall. It feels cold then, but after a Minnesota winter, when it hits 40 degrees in the spring, it feels warm.
Although you're not supposed to run long in new shoes, I wore my new Asics 3000. They were fine and I reasoned that it was better to run in shoes that weren't broken in than to risk injury in worn-out shoes.
California is approaching the third year of a draught and this area is down about 5 inches from normal. However, the recent rains have turned the hills sort-of green and I wanted to capture them before they turned brown. While SD was cooking dinner, I went out to play Ansel Adams.
My neighbor is a cattle rancher, and this is some of his herd.

Everybody gets hungry when the sun starts to set.

This is Morro Rock, located in Morro Bay. It is a remnant of an ancient volcano, one of the Seven Sisters.

Finally, here's the sun setting over the ocean. There's a marine layer covering the water, cause we're supposed to get rain on Thursday.

Oh thank you for the lovely pictures.
Those pictures are amazing! I can't believe those hills are your view!
I have to schedule in cleaning too. I hate it.
Also, it's supposed to be in the 40's tomorrow and I am seriously contemplating shorts for my long run. LOL! I am a long way from Miami!
WOW Dori: wonderful photos. I can see why you love it so much.
Ten miles seems like a lot to me...
Great Job on the run and I am jealous! I love those pictures. It looks so warm. Course, I saw the first patch of grass on my lawn the other day. I am praying it stays until spring is really here.
