Life in the SLO lane. After 16 years in Minneapolis, where I become an avid runner, I moved to the California Central Coast. I'm 67 and have been running since I was 50. I've finished 10 marathons, with a 5:49 PR. Aways trying to get faster.

Race Day
Not for me. But there are alot of people running a race tomorrow.
First, there's the Twin Cities Marathon. My Club Run buddy Marcia is running her first marathon tomorrow to celebrate turning fifty last Sept. 11. AmyBee, and Cheryl are running in solidarity with her. Other Club Runners: Nat, Kathy, and Bea are running the TC 10 Mile, known as the short cut to the capitol.
Other friends running the marathon are: Debbie (first time marathon), Andrea (who ran the first half of Grandma's Marathon with me, then smoked the second half), her father Doug who's lightning fast, and Mike, who gave me Hal Higdon's Marathon book when I was training for my first marathon 3 years ago. Barb, who started the 2003 TCM with me and left me eating her dust by Mile 1, is running the TC 10.
The marathon goes right by my street, and we use it as an excuse for a block party, so I'll be out there cheering them on at mile 2.5 and collecting discarded clothing. This will be the first time in 3 years that I'll be a spectator and not a participant. Then I have to clean for the open house and head down to the later miles--when they really need encouragement--to support my friends. I hope to hook up with Club Run friends who are not running the race and also Firefly Denise, who will be at St. Thomas.
Next, Back of the Pack is running her first marathon tomorrow--the Portland Marathon. Michelle is no novice runner or racer, but the marathon distance has been a dream of hers.
And finally, former couch potato Michelle of Try Tri is participating in a Sprint Triathlon.
Good luck, runners!

Must be hard to watch when you're used to running. You are a good mentor for cheering on your friends.
Enjoy the break:-)
Thanks so much for the good wishes, I'm so excited I might stroke out before the race even starts! ;) I wish everyone racing, and everyone supporting the races, a great weekend!!!
My brother is running TCM tomorrow too! Have fun and enjoy the race from the other side.
You have a very fun day planned. I love cheering people on too! Let us know how it was and how they all did.
I was happy to see your link my friend!

I was sure you were running this year - I was hoping to check in and see that you were under 6 hours! Oh well - I'll keep an eye out for your next race....

Not sure "eating dust" is a phrase that I'd associate with my turtle-like pace, but thanks for the kudos :) It was a great race day!!!

THANKS for being out there on Sunday, Dori. Made a world of diffence to me.
You are the greatest!
See you in a couple weeks.
OMG! I hope you saw Dani, Marisa, and I at UST. I just read this blog. Yikes!
Plus I was SO not feeling well on Saturday night too to call you.
You were a lifesaver at the Twin Cities Marathon, Dori! The ice at Mile 19 picked up my spirits immensely and the BAG of ice at the finish line was heaven on earth! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I don't know what I would have done without you!!!
A marathon running right by your STREET! How FUN!!!!
