Goodbye, Red Sports Car

A poignant moment for me; I just sold my car, a 2001 Audi TT Roadster. We got her in July 2000, one of the first to hit the streets of Minneapolis. She's been a good car, but SD thought it was time for a newer model. I didn't like the 2008 TT; well, I liked driving it but it didn't have the style of the original model. I had a lot of fun with that car and it holds a lot of memories. The buyer is a "kid" in his 20s, whom I'm sure didn't know what to do when the 54 year old menopausal seller started to cry when he was ready to drive the car away. He promised he would take very good care of her, but I know he was just itching to see how fast he could go! He lives in Seattle, so is going to have a couple of days to find out as he drives home.

But don't cry for me, Argentina. I have a black sports car to drive around the county in. We bought it last summer in San Luis and although at first it was too muscular for me, I'm settling in to it. Most days, however, I'm touring around in my pickup truck--silver, to hide the dust from these country roads. :-)

That's a beauty, nice cherry red. Convertible too, probably that was real nice in June July and August in the Twin Cities. It's so hard to give up cars we love. I still grieve for my yellow 1974 Superbeetle with a sunroof that I gave to my son five years ago.

You'll have the memories!

Looks like it was one sweet ride.

Where's a photo of your black sports car - and the muscles you're flexing with it?

That is a nice looking car, and I've never been a fan of Audis...so why get rid of her? So what if she's older...I cried when I sold both of my cars, even though they were older and ready to go. And not nearly as nice as that one!!

Have you looked at the Z4s...I am partial to BMW and would really love to have one, but doubt I ever will...:(

where have you been hiding, Dori?

Your posts are few and far between. Hard for your old pals freezing here in the heartland to know what is happening out there in sunny CA....

Did you see my post about our new car? We just traded out the 2001 for a snazzier 2008 version (can you say snazzy when you are talking Honda Element?) Good to hear from you!

Nice car, Dori!.

I can understand your need to grieve when we have to move on and get rid of important possessions. It is very hard to do.

The picture of the car would have been even better with you sitting on the hood.

Great to hear from you!
A black sports car and a silver pickup: OK!
But nice to take time to say good-bye too.
