Someone put this tuxedoed fellow in their yard, no doubt as a statement to the Antarctic temperatures we've been experiencing. The deep freeze is finally behind us now. Temperatures today were in the low 40s. Yay! As I was running today, a gaggle of geese flew overhead. When the geese return, it is a sign of spring. Some people don't like them because they leave a big mess, but I enjoy seeing them. I especially like the babies, with their yellow-green down. Still waiting to see the first Robin, though. Then it will really be spring.
Today's run was uneventful, just an easy 4 miles through the neighborhood. Very pleasant. I normally run with the group on Monday and Wednesday nights, but since this wasn't a strength or speed run, I figured I'd run in the daylight. Wednesday I'll run with the group.
Last Saturday I ran with some women from my old running club. I hadn't seen them in a while and it was nice catching up with them, although they are still too fast for me. I was scheduled for 5 miles, but we ran 10K instead. That's the furthest I've run in two months!
Congratulations to AmyBee for completing an indoor triathlon on Sunday. She PR'd for this competition.
On the sugar-free front, I've lost 10 pounds and can fit into my size 8 pants. I still want to get down to a size 6, but this is a good start. It's been over two months now and it's gotten easier to stay away from the stuff. I read labels and can't believe how much hidden sugar is in the food I ate. At Trader Joe's, I discovered Larabars and Odwalla bars. They have the kind of label I like to see "Ingredients: almonds, dates." Isn't that great! No corn syrup, organic cane juice, palm kernal oil, etc. I eat them before a workout, because typically I don't get around to eating lunch first.

Wow! Congrats on the weight loss - that is just awesome. I've cut out corn syrup, but that's been it. Cutting out sugar might mean no chocolate...that might be beyond my capabilities.
When is your move to CA?
Congratulations on your weight loss! It definitely gets easier with time when you give up something. Keep up the good work!
Wow, 2 months sans sugar...I'm so impressed. I know I could not do that much, but I have given up candy and ice cream for Lent so it's a start. I know last year when I did that, I didn't even feel the need for candy for a long time after...then I broke down and went too nuts...sigh...
When you say no sugar though, I'm curious what you mean by the no sugar...fruit and such is fine right? What about cereals like Kashi? I so love TJ's...their stuff is awesome!!
I saw several robins last week on the St. Paul campus. Very awesome. Congrads on the weight loss. I might have to do that far soon. I LOVE larabars -even the Jocalat bars too - and odwalla. I went on their website. They are coming out with Key Lime Pie and Pistashio. YUMMMMMMM!
Nice job on the weight loss! Love, love, love the Lara bars!
WTG on the weight loss, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
